Unit History

This Squadron was formed in Canberra in April 1942 from Dutch airmen who had escaped the fall of the East Indies. They were equipped with B-25 Mitchell bombers.They served in Western Australia and the Northern Territory. They left the Northern Territory on 17 July 1945 bound for Balikpapan on the east coast of the island of Borneo, in the Indonesian province of East Kalimantan. The Australian part of the Squadron was disbanded on 25 November 1945. The Dutch part of the Squadron continued to serve in Java until it was disbanded in July 1950.
