Unit History

Valentijn operated commercially in the Dutch East Indies. She was ordered to divert to Darwin where she arrived with civilian passengers and numerous livestock. Once all were offloaded, troops of Gull Force were loaded and the vessel was escorted by HMAS Adelaide and HMAS Ballarat to Ambon.
