Unit History

Wanaka served as a RAAF supply ship. She made up to 8 voyages to Darwin before being wrecked on Eden Reef in the Great Barrier Reef during a cyclone on 15 December 1943. She was salvaged by Caledonion Salvor. After repairs in Sydney she was used on the New Guinea run.
